Harriet Tubman was born in 1821 in Dorchester County, Maryland. Afterward, Harriet started working when she was six years old in 1827. After that, when she was seven years old, she tried to run away. When she was 13, her family given her an adult name. Her adult name was Harriet. Afterward, she marries free man John Tubman in 1844. Harriet Tubman escapes to the North and freedom in 1849.She took her aging parents north to freedom in 1857. After that, Harriet married Nelson Davis in 1869. Harriet opened a home in Auburn in 1908. Afterward, Harriet Tubman died in Auburn, New York, in 1913.

Today, I will tell you the story of Harriet Tubman also known as a hero. Harriet Tubman was born with the name Araminta Ross in 1821 in Dorchester County, Maryland.
Harriet starting working as a slave when she was six years old. She worked in her owner’s house. She was cleaning the house and looking for a little child. Her owner was always mean to her, and always hit her and screamed at her. When Harriet was seven years old, she tried to run away. But Harriet came back because she was hungry and tired and had no food to eat. When Harriet was 13 she was given her adult name which we all call her by, Harriet. One day in the year of 1833, became a horrible day for Harriet. It was a normal day as always, when she saw a slave going to a shop. Harriet decided to follow him. Harriet’s owner told her to help him to catch the slave, but Harriet refused, and was hit with a rock. The rock hit her forehead, and since then she had problems with her head and was imagining. In 1884, Harriet married John Tubman. In 1849, Harriet finally was safe. On Christmas Eve in 1850, Harriet returned to Maryland, to help her siblings escape. In 1857 she finally helped her parents escape.
Harriet helped at the civil war, and also she helped 300 slaves, from what she was named a hero. Their lots of books and articles about her. On 1908 Harriet opened a home in NY for old African American. In 1913 the great hero Harriet have died, but she did not died in the peoples heart, and will never be forgotten.

She was picking cotton in a field in 1833. She was given her adult name in 1834. Later in 1844 she married John Tubman. She made it safely to the north in 1849. On Christmas Eve Harriet returned to Maryland in 1850. She took her aging parents north to freedom in 1857. Harriet made at least 15 trips to free slaves from 1850-60. It was very dangerous. Harriet wanted her freedom too in 1861. The civil war began. A Civil War is a conflict between people within the same country. They freed more than 740 slaves from prisons. President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863. Sarah Bradford wrote a book about Harriet in 1869. Harriet married Nelson Davis. In 1908, Harriet opened a home in Auburn, New York. Harriet was 75 years old herself. In 1913 she died in Auburn, New York. She was nearly 93 years old.
